JOHNSON, Vermont — The men's tennis team from turned in a dominant performance on the road, defeating Vermont State University Johnson by a 7–0 team score on Friday.
Houghton controlled the match from the outset, sweeping all three doubles contests. The first doubles team of Rune Camps and Eben Schilke and the second doubles pair of Jonas Likens and Ben Unger each posted convincing 6–0 victories, while Caleb Hilsher and James Adenuga completed the doubles sweep with a 6–2 win at third doubles to secure the doubles point.
The Highlanders continued their strong play in singles, winning all six matches in straight sets. Schilke led the lineup with a 6–1, 6–1 victory at No. 1 singles. Unger followed with a 6–2, 6–0 win at No. 2, while Likens recorded a 6–0, 6–0 result at No. 3 singles.
At the lower spots in the lineup, Hilsher earned a 6–0, 6–0 win at No. 4 singles, Adenuga added a 6–1, 6–0 victory at No. 5, and Isaac Anderson closed the match with a 6–0, 6–0 win at No. 6.
With the doubles point and six singles victories, Houghton secured the 7–0 team sweep and will next travel to take on Norwich University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
