Pet Policy

In order to maintain a safe and welcoming campus for all faculty, staff, students and visitors, the Houghton Department of Athletics has enacted a “No Pet” Policy at all campus athletics venues.

Other than service animals, no animals are permitted in indoor facilities and within the confines of outdoor athletics facilities during any organized activity (including, but not limited to, athletic events, alumni gatherings, concerts, and intramural activities) in which students, spectators or guests are invited to gather.

“Confines” includes officially designated spectator areas (bleachers, softball observation deck, etc.). Spaces surrounding the outdoor venues are available for viewing the contests with pets.

While we appreciate that pets may provide comfort to many individuals, the risks of behavioral unpredictability, health concerns and disruption require the restriction of pets in these areas.

We ask fans, parents and student-athletes to follow these guidelines.

If you have a question or special need or concern regarding the policy, contact Houghton Director of Athletics Matthew Webb at 585-567-9645.
