HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Houghton University men's tennis team was well represented in the 2026 Empire 8 Conference postseason awards, earning three all-conference selections and a spot on the Empire 8 Men's Tennis Tomorrow's Leaders Team.
Freshman standout Rune Camps earned First Team All-Empire 8 West Division honors in singles competition after an impressive debut season for the Highlanders. Camps was recognized among the top singles players in the division and was one of seven student-athletes named to the West Division First Team.
Houghton also earned Second Team All-Empire 8 West Division honors in doubles play as the junior duo of Preston Tobolski and Jason Murphy were recognized among the top doubles pairings in the conference. The tandem consistently delivered strong performances throughout the season and helped anchor the Highlanders lineup in conference competition.
Murphy also represented Houghton on the 2026 Empire 8 Men's Tennis Tomorrow's Leaders Team, an honor recognizing student-athletes who demonstrate leadership in competition, in the classroom and throughout their communities while exemplifying sportsmanship and integrity.
