Men's Tennis Continues to Roll Through Conference Play

Box Score UTICA, N.Y. -- Houghton men's tennis stayed perfect in the Empire 8, improving to 5-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play after a 9-0 win at Utica on Friday.

The Highlanders swept doubles with 8-3 (Jake Fisler / Micah Schilke), 8-0 (Ethan Yung / Levi Webb) and 8-2 (Ben McKay / Adam Brown) victories.

Moving on to singles, the Highlanders got wins from Yung (6-1, 6-0), Fisler (6-1, 6-3), Schilke (6-0, 6-1), Matt Cicero (7-5, 6-2), Levi Webb (6-0, 6-0) and Adam Brown (6-0, 6-4).

The win for Adam Brown was his first official singles victory as a Highlander.

"The guys played well today. They've had a great week of practice and we got on a roll after a few games of doubles," said Head Coach Tonya McGraner. "No. 2 doubles paved the way with great control of their match and aggressive net play. We put some quick points on the board with 2nd and 3rd singles and the rest of the matches were able to feed off that momentum and finish strong. All in all it was a good day."

Houghton has a quick turnaround, taking on St. John Fisher at home on Saturday at 1 p.m.
