Box Score OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Houghton men's tennis got the 2018-19 season off to a great start, defeating Oswego 6-3 on the road Friday.
The Highlanders got wins in first and second doubles and first through fourth singles.
Jake Fisler earned his first career win at first singles with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 victory. And after teaming for a 9-2 record at second doubles a year ago, the tandem of Fisler and Louis Guillaume-Garcia moved to first singles and got a hard-earned 8-6 victory.
Dylan Scherer clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at third singles.
"The guys did great today," said Head Coach
Tonya McGraner. "They had to play under some tough conditions that were out of our control, but they really stepped up and came together well as a team. I'm very pleased with that match being our year-opener."
Michael Cha earned a win in fourth singles and teamed with Scherer for an 8-3 win in second doubles.
