ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Houghton men's tennis has earned its first Empire 8 postseason appearance. The Highlanders will take on No. 1 seeded Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday, May 5 at 4 p.m. at Nazareth College.

No. 2 Ithaca will take on No. 3 St. John Fisher in Friday's other semifinal.

The Highlanders finished the regular season with a record of 12-5 overall and 5-3 in the E8. The three conference losses were to the other three teams in the tournament.

Friday, May 5
Semi-finals

No. 4 Houghton vs No. 1 Stevens at 4 p.m.
No. 3 Fisher vs No. 2 Ithaca at 4 p.m.

Outdoor: Stevens vs. Houghton played at Nazareth; Ithaca vs. Fisher at Mendon Racquet Club
Indoor/Rain: Each Semi final match will have three courts available to completion

Saturday, May 6
Championship Match

Outdoor – Played at Nazareth at 10am (9am Warm-up, 10am start time)

Indoor – Played at Mendon Racquet Club at 10am (9am Warm-up, 10am start time)

Tournament Format and Scoring:

Format – Dual match is played until decision (5 points won) Three doubles matches are followed by six singles matches.

Outdoor Format – No-Ad Scoring, Singles matches will play two out of three sets.   Doubles - Eight game Pro set (Twelve point Tiebreaker at 7 all)
 
Rain Format – No-Ad Scoring, Singles matches will play two out of three sets.

Doubles – Eight game Pro set (Twelve point Tiebreaker at 7 all)
