HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Seven members of the Houghton baseball squad have been recognized with Empire 8 All-Conference honors following the 2025 season, as voted on by E8 coaches this week.
Kanta Ueno and
Christian Tortorici were named First Team selections,
Qingyang Feng and
Nate Hall earned Second Team honors, while
Ian Slate,
Aiden Talcott and
Nate Tyler were named to the Third Team.
Ueno (2B) led the conference and was among the national leaders with a .464 batting average. He also led the conference with 71 hits and set a new program record in that category. He also was among the top 10 in the conference in slugging percentage, on-base percentage, OPS, runs scored, RBI, triples, stolen bases, and sac bunts. His 52 RBI were a single season program record.
Tortorici (C) finished the season batting .354 with 56 hits, 10 doubles, four triples, a home run and 41 RBI. He was in the top 10 in the conference in hits and RBI.
Feng (3B) was third on the team with a .359 average. he was second on the team with 61 hits, while leading the team in doubles (17), triples (5) and home runs (3). He finished in the top 10 in the E8 in runs, walks, stolen bases, hits and doubles, while leading the conference in triples.
Hall (OF) was second on the team with a .387 batting average. He also totaled 55 hits and 39 RBI. He produced two walk-off singles late in the season vs. St. John Fisher to help Houghton earn the No. 5 seed in the E8 Tournament.
Slate (DH) hit .261 on the season with 41 hits. His 13 doubles was second on the team and ranked fifth in the conference.
Talcott (P) was 4-1 in six appearances on the mound. He registered a 2.55 ERA in 42.1 innings pitched, striking out 19 batters. Opposing batters hit just .233 against him.
Tyler (P) made 22 appearances on the season, with a 3-2 record and one save. He finished with a 3.96 ERA, striking out 32 and walking just 12 in 36.1 innings.

Lukas Cornell was Houghton's selection to the Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen.
