ELMIRA, N.Y. — Houghton women's soccer played Elmira to a 2-2 draw Saturday in an Empire 8 matchup at Elmira.
The Highlanders took the lead in the 17th minute when Annaleis Milne scored. Houghton maintained its 1-0 advantage through halftime, outshooting Elmira 9-3 in the opening half.
Elmira tied the match in the 58th minute when Brooke Wilcox scored, but Houghton answered 10 minutes later. Taylor Curyto put the Highlanders back in front in the 68th minute.
Wilcox scored again in the 74th minute to level the match at 2-2. Houghton had two shots on target in the final four minutes, but Elmira goalkeeper Sarah Cantrell made saves on Elena Esh and Elizabeth Wertz to preserve the draw.
Houghton finished with a 13-7 advantage in shots and put eight shots on target. Curyto and Milne each scored, while Lilly Rautenstrauch made three saves in goal.
The draw moved Houghton to 5-3-1 overall and 3-0-1 in Empire 8 play.
