HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton women's soccer saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday evening, falling 1-0 to Buffalo State at Burke Field. The Highlanders are now 5-3-0 overall.

Houghton controlled much of the offensive action in the opening half, producing nine shots and five shots on goal while holding Buffalo State to two shots. Curyto, Esh, Emma Kamas, Mims and Leah Jackson each put shots on target, but Buffalo State goalkeeper Addy Williams made five saves to keep the match scoreless at halftime.
Buffalo State broke through in the 50th minute when Makenzie Below scored off an assist from Lilly Jaroszewski. Houghton continued to pressure the Bengals, earning eight second-half corner kicks and putting three more shots on target, but Williams made three second-half saves to preserve the shutout.
Houghton finished with a 14-7 advantage in shots and a 10-2 edge in corner kicks.
