ALFRED, N.Y. -- Houghton Women's Tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to Alfred University Friday afternoon in an Empire 8 Conference match.
Houghton earned two victories in the match, led by Sage Brinckerhoff, who posted wins in both singles and doubles competition.

Houghton opened doubles competition with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Brinckerhoff and Zachery defeated Becca Epping and Camryn Moore, 6-4, while Martinez and Lloyd earned a 6-3 victory over Elizabeth Madsen and Anastasia Shaw. Alfred answered with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Brinckerhoff continued her strong performance in singles, sweeping Madsen 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Zachery and Lloyd each turned in strong performances at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, pushing their matches to three sets before Alfred secured the victories. Alfred won the remaining singles matches to claim the 5-2 team decision.
