ONEONTA, N.Y. — The Houghton University men's soccer team opened Empire 8 conference play on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-0 to Hartwick College at Elmore Field.

With the setback, the Highlanders move to 2-2-1 overall and 0-1-0 in Empire 8 action, while the Hawks improve to 2-3-0 and 1-0-0 in conference play.

Hartwick seized early control of the match, striking in the third minute and expanding its advantage to 3-0 by halftime. The Hawks added a final goal in the 73rd minute to seal the victory.
