HOUGHTON, N.Y. — The Houghton University men's tennis team turned in a dominant all-around performance on Friday afternoon, sweeping Lycoming College, 7-0, at home.
The Highlanders controlled the match from the outset, securing the doubles point with strong play across all three positions. Houghton's pairings of Rune Camps / Eben Schilke, Jonas Likens / Benjamin Unger, and Caleb Hilsher / James Adenuga delivered decisive victories to give the Highlanders early momentum.
In singles play, Houghton continued to dictate action, winning all six matches in straight sets to complete the shutout.
At the top of the lineup, Rune Camps led the way with a convincing win at No. 1 singles, while Eben Schilke followed with a strong performance in the No. 2 position. Jonas Likens added another point at No. 3, continuing his solid play in the middle of the lineup.
The depth of the Highlanders proved to be a key factor, as Benjamin Unger, Caleb Hilsher, and James Adenuga each earned straight-set victories in the bottom half of the singles lineup to seal the sweep.
Houghton's consistency was evident throughout the match, dropping very few games across both doubles and singles play while showcasing balance from top to bottom.
The win marks Houghton's second straight victory over Lycoming and another 7-0 result in the series.
The Highlanders have a quick turnaround as they host PSU-Behrend at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
