Four Women's Tennis Players Earn All-Empire 8 Honors

HOUGHTON, N.Y. — Four members of the Houghton University women's tennis team received Empire 8 All-Conference recognition for the 2026 season.

Sage Brinckerhoff earned All-Empire 8 Second Team honors in singles, while Victoria Martinez and Abigail Lloyd were named to the Third Team in doubles. Chakrapani was selected to the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team.

Brinckerhoff turned in a strong season at No. 1 singles, posting a 7-6 overall record and a 5-3 mark in Empire 8 competition. She was Houghton's winningest singles player, finishing with a .538 winning percentage. She also contributed in doubles competition, recording four wins during the season.

Martinez and Lloyd earned Third Team doubles recognition after combining for a 4-3 overall record, including a 3-2 mark against conference opponents. The duo competed primarily at No. 2 doubles and finished the season with a two-match winning streak.

Chakrapani was selected to the Tomorrow's Leaders Team, which recognizes one student-athlete from each conference institution for leadership and contributions beyond athletic competition. Honorees are recognized for their work in the classroom and community, as well as their commitment to competing with honor and integrity and demonstrating the qualities of outstanding sportswomen.

The three selections represent Houghton's contributions both on the court and through the leadership and character demonstrated by its student-athletes.

The Empire 8 All-Conference awards are determined by a vote of the league's head coaches.
