Highlanders Storm Back in Second Half to Take Down Keuka

KEUKA PARK, NY— After trailing by six points early in the third quarter, the Houghton Highlanders stormed back in the final 17 minutes of the game to defeat the Keuka Wolves, 65-47.
 
Houghton struggled to find their offensive rhythm throughout the first half, but still led by two at the break, 28-26.  But the Wolves scored the first eight points of the second half, taking a six-point advantage.
 
From that point on, the Highlanders allowed only 13 points, while putting up 37 of their own.

>> Houghton won the turnover battle, 23-8, and committed only 3 turnovers in second half.
 
>> Crysta LaCrosse moved into sole possession of 12th place on the all-time scoring board and is now only one assist from become the all-time leader in that category, as she collected 19 points, four rebounds and four assists.
 
LaCrosse now has 1,087 career points, only four points behind Wendy Ivey (1997-01) for 11th place in Houghton women's basketball history.  Ironically, it is also Ivey who holds the career assist mark.  LaCrosse, who now has 406 career assists, could pass her in both categories in tomorrow's game.  She is also currently only six assists from fourth-place all-time in the Empire 8 conference.
 
The senior guard's final rebound marked her 100th of the season.  She now has 539 for her career, only 35 away from 10th place all-time.
 
>> Olivia Simser tallied 10 points (seven of which came in the fourth quarter), eight rebounds and four steals, while Tricia Carmer grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds and added four points and three steals.
