LaCrosse Becomes All-Time Assist Leader as Highlanders Beat Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y.Crysta LaCrosse became the all-time assist leader in Houghton women's basketball history, helping lead the Highlanders to their 15th win of the season, a 72-47 victory over the Elmira Soaring Eagles.

LaCrosse came into the game one assist behind Houghton legend Wendy Ivey (1997-01), which she picked up in the first quarter on a three-pointer from freshman Olivia Simser.  She then made the record her own in the second on a three from Anna Dening

For good measure, LaCrosse would add one more assist in the third quarter, giving her 409 for her career.

The Highlanders, meanwhile, left no doubt, racing out to an early lead.  By the end of the first, Houghton led, 26-10, and by the half, the Highlanders held a 43-17 advantage.

While the Soaring Eagles outscored the Highlanders by a single point in the second half, the damage had already been done.
