BROCKPORT, NY -- The track & field teams traveled to the campus of SUNY Brockport on Saturday afternoon to open the new year, in a relatively small meet. Attending teams were Houghton, Brockport, Daemen, Roberts Wesleyan, and RIT. Typically, the Highlanders have taken this week off competition to focus on training. With a slightly different approach to the schedule this year, the Highlanders arrived back on campus on Monday, and were on the track Saturday. There were two athletes who qualified for the All-Atlantic Regional Championships.
Alexa Belanger took 2nd place in the high jump, with a leap of 1.58m and
Victoria Brewster took 2nd in the 200m in a time of 26.21 seconds. There was one event winner on the day as
Amos Bixler closed hard in the mile to cross the line first, in a time of 4:23.75. Here are the full

COACHES CORNER -
Austin Beauregard, Head Track & Field Coach
"I'm pretty happy with how the squad competed on Saturday. With this being our first meet coming off of winter break, we aren't always looking for tons of personal bests. We're mainly looking for solid execution and to compete strong. And even so we had decent amount of personal records broken, along with 2 athletes making jumps on our top 10 lists,
Maggie Almeter (10
th) and
Lee Camacho (9
th) in the shot put and weight throw, respectively. Overall a great team day after the break. Looking forward to our home meet next weekend."
The Highlanders will be back in action at their home track the Kerr-Pegula Fieldhouse on 1/24.Â
