WILLIAMSPORT, PA— The Lycoming Warriors captured the momentum early and never relented, defeating the Houghton Highlanders in straight sets on Tuesday evening.
The Warriors capitalized on multiple runs in the first set, eventually building a commanding, 21-7, lead. While the Highlanders rallied briefly, the ultimately could not overcome the deficit, falling in the opener, 25-13.
In set number two, Lycoming used a five-point run early, and a six-point run late to pull away from the Highlanders, building a two-set lead with a 25-16 victory.
Houghton made eyes on a comeback in the third, taking a 13-11 lead on a kill by
Emma Cole. But again, the Warriors peeled off a long run, winning seven straight points, which the Highlanders could not overcome.
