ERIE, Pa. -- With the offense struggling to create many scoring opportunities, it was the defense that stepped up for Houghton women's soccer in a 0-0 tie at PSU-Behrend on Saturday.
The defensive stinginess was nothing new for the 2025 Highlanders, who recorded their fifth-straight clean sheet in five outings as they moved to 4-0-1 on the season.
The Lions outshot the Highlanders 19-3 on the afternoon, but Houghton got strong play from
Preslee Miller in net. The sophomore made eight stops in net and registered her third individual shutout of the season.
Hope Russell,
Aivery Shuck and
Gracelyn Williams had Houghton's only shots on the day.
The Highlanders return to action on Wednesday, September 17 when they host Buffalo State at 7 p.m. on Burke Field.
