Highlanders Hang On For Second Win In As Many Days

HOUGHTON, NY – The Houghton Highlanders survived a late scare to defeat the Neumann Knights, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon.

With the Highlanders holding a 3-0 lead entering the final quarter, the Knights mounted a rally, scoring two goals, both within a minute of each other inside of the final seven minutes.

Then with only 1:30 left on the clock, Neumann's Gabriella Capelli crossed a ball in front of a wide open Houghton cage, but the Knights could not manage a shot and the Highlanders dribbled out the clock to save the win.

COACH'S CORNER
"We are really happy with the way our group pivoted from yesterday's contest.  Our coaching staff gave a lot ofeedback on pace of play and counter attacking, both of which we executed really well today.

"We had poor clock management and acted a bit too frantic during the fourth quarter.  We can work on that.

"Well done to Neumann for executing on those opportunities and making it a close game."  - Head Coach Hannah Ogden
