BROCKPORT, NY --The track & field teams competed in day two of the Empire 8 Championships on Saturday. Conditions were much different than Friday, with temperatures not quite reaching 50 degrees, rain, but very little wind. Nonetheless, the team took full advantage of the day by producing three program records, and fourteen podium performances. Two of the program records came from both of the 4 x 100m relay squads. The team of Dunn, Zickafoose, Belanger, and Brewster set a mark of 49.86 for 4th place in the meet. The bested the previous record by just over three tenths of a second. The men's team of Knight, Kurtz, Gordon, and Belanger ran 43.40. This bested the 2019 mark of 43.45 by just a hair. Both squads also hit the Regional standard, in the process.
Alexa Belanger, then, continued her fantastic year by jumping 1.71m. This sits at #5 in the NCAA, and bests Alexa Thayer's 2011 mark of 1.70m by just 1cm.

Coaches Corner
"Not much changed from how we competed in the indoor championships back in February. We showed up, and showed up well. We are putting up close to the amount of team points that we did before the new teams came in to the conference. It's harder, certainly, but the team knows the job. We've got an older core of athletes who have paved a way for what success at the end of the year looks like, and a group of younger athletes who are talented and hungry. The future is bright. I want to thank all our seniors for their leadership, efforts, commitment, and care of the team over the years. Smile at what you helped cultivate, keep, and build. Thank you," discussed Coach Hager after the meet.
Several members of both teams will compete in the All-Atlantic Regional Championships on Mat 14-15 at Williams College in Massachusetts.
