HOUGHTON, NY -- The track & field program hosted it's first outdoor competition since the 2019 Empire 8 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The track was resurfaced this Summer, which opened the gates to hosting an invitational. The attending teams were Daemen, D'Youville, Alfred, Big Kats Track Club, and Syracuse Running Club. The weather was generally very good for late March in western NY. It got up into the 60's with off and on rain. The wind was fairly low for most of the day. Houghton produced thirteen event winners on the day and thirty-six personal best performances. Two program records fell on the day to none other than
Evan Kurtz in the 200m. Kurtz obliterated the 200m record of 22.53, which is held by former standpoint Nathaniel Zedomi from 2021. Kurtz ran a time of 22.05 to win the event. Tori Brewster opened up her outdoor season with a 12.30 in the 100m dash. This ties her personal best from high school, and clips Alyssa Figueora's mark of 12.36 from 2012. Another big performance to note is
Alexa Belanger winning the women's high jump in 1.67m. Picking up from where she left off during the indoor season, Belanger sits a #1 in the nation for NCAA Division III after two weeks of competition.
