KEUKA PARK, NY— A suffocating defense and some lethal long-range shooting turned up the heat in the second half for the Houghton Highlanders, as they defeated the Keuka Wolves on Saturday afternoon, 77-39.
After taking a 32-26 lead into the half, Houghton pulled away in the second 20 minutes, allowing the Wolves only three field goals and 13 points on 11 percent shooting.
Meanwhile, the Highlanders hit a scorching 55 percent of their threes (6-for-11) in the third quarter and knocked down 45 percent of their overall shots in the second half.
In all, Houghton outscored Keuka over the final 20 minutes, 45-13.
Kayla Camacho led the way with 23 points in 29 minutes of play, followed by three other Highlanders who scored in double-digits.
