HAMBURG, NY – The Highlanders made the short trip up to Hilbert College to face the Hawks in another non-conference match. Houghton fell to the Hawks 3-0.

Earlier in the season, Houghton faced Hilbert in a non-conference match-up at the Nielsen Center which favored the Hawks and they took the match 3-0. The Highlanders looked to avenge this early season loss and pick up their first win. Throughout the first set, the Highlanders and Hawks traded points with neither team gaining more than a three-point advantage.
 
With the score 15-10 in favor of Hilbert, a couple of quick kills paired with a few Houghton errors, had the Highlanders facing a 22-12 deficit. Houghton was able to string a couple of kills together and fight back in the set, but eventually fell 18-25.
 
The second set was a different story as the Hawks hit .386 offensively. Unfortunately, the Highlanders could not find any offensive rhythm and lost the second set 9-25.

The defense for the Highlanders gave them a spark in the third set and they were able to keep point for point with the Hawks, but in the end the service errors, reception errors, and hitting errors were too much to overcome and the Hawks took the set 25-20, winning the match 3-0.
