HOUGHTON, NY – After the 10-day break, Houghton played host to SUNY Potsdam at the Nielsen Center. The teams were evenly matched, but the Bears claimed the 3-0 victory.

The Highlanders played host to the SUNY Potsdam Bears in a Friday night match-up. The first set was point for point with neither team gaining more than a two-point advantage. Houghton started strong and found early offensive success. They hit a combined .217. With the set tied 20-20, the Bears were able to gain a three-point difference with a couple kills. That separation proved to the difference and the Bears took set one 25-21.
In the second set, the Bears got out to a quick 16-5 lead, but the Highlanders fought back point by point. However, the lead was too much to overcome and Potsdam won set two 25-20. The third set started just as the first had with both teams exchanging points. With the score 10-8, the Bears gained a five-point advantage and the Highlanders were unable to recover and dropped the last set 15-25.
