HOUGHTON, NY – A new-look Houghton Highlanders team came out of the gates blazing, scoring no less than 25 points in any of the four quarters as they defeated the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford Panthers in the season opener, 114-40.
The Highlanders outscored the Panthers, 26-7, in the opening quarter and were only getting warmed up.
Over the second 10 minutes Houghton knocked down 55 percent of their shots, including 45 percent from beyond the arc. At the half they led, 53-24.
The second half brought more of the same, as the Highlanders outscored the Panthers, 61-16, utilizing a deep bench, excellent defense, and a three-point barrage to close out the win.

>> The Highlanders shattered the previous school record for most points scored in game (104 vs. Philadelphia Pharmacy on February 29, 1992), and also established new records for most three-point shots taken (49) and most three-pointers converted (20) in a game. They racked up the fourth-most assists in a game (30) in Highlander women's history.

Emma Huedepohl notched her first career double-double, scoring 12 points and dishing out 12 assists in only 20 minutes of play. Fellow rookies,

Keely Mullins chipped in 16 points apiece.
