HOUGHTON, NY – While the numbers may not have been quite as prolific and record-breaking as the night before, the outcome remained the same, as the Houghton Highlanders women's basketball team defeated the visiting Bryant & Stratton Bobcats on Saturday evening, 80-51.
Once again, the defense led to offense, as the Highlanders forced 24 turnovers, including eight in the first quarter alone, and scored 23 points off turnovers.
Houghton nailed 6-of-9 from beyond the arc in the opening quarter as they raced to a commanding 23-8 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The second quarter brought more of the same, and by the half, the Highlanders led, 40-15.
The Bobcats settled in the second half, playing more evenly with the host team, but the closest they would come would be an 18-point deficit midway through the third quarter, as the Highlanders rolled to the second victory in as many nights.

COACH'S CORNER
"Bryant & Stratton was an athletic, defensive team. They were able to slow down what we were doing a little bit throughout the course of the game, but I'm proud of our group for being able to figure everything out on the fly and find good shots.
"It was a fun opening weekend. I'm excited for a full week of practice to fine tune what we are doing on both ends of the floor. Marywood can be a tough road opponent that will challenge us on both ends of the floor." – Head Coach
Phil Pellegrino
