HAMBURG, NY – As is becoming their calling card, the Houghton Highlanders utilized a swarming defense and a deep bench to dismantle the Hilbert Hawks on Wednesday evening, moving to 4-0 with a 85-32 victory.
The Highlanders forced 35 Hilbert turnovers, 18 of which came by steal, and scored 45 points off those turnovers.
Houghton outscored the Hawks, 22-to-8, in the opening quarter and never looked back, knocking down over 41 percent of their shots from the field.
The Highlanders continued to let it rain from beyond the arc, hoisting 32 long-range bombs, while converting 10 (31.3 percent).
