Men's Soccer Drops 3-2 Decision to Keuka on the Road

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. -- Keuka scored three-straight goals to erase a 1-0 deficit and earn a 3-2 win over Houghton in men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon.

The Highlanders had jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute on a beautiful play between James Fay and David Jatta. Fay found Jatta making a run between two Keuka defenders just inside the box, and the freshman sent a low shot past the Wolves keeper. But the momentum didn't stay with the Highlanders after that goal as the Wolves stayed composed and evened the score with their first tally in the 38th minute. The took the lead in the 50th minute and upped the advantage to two with their final score at the 82:50 mark.

Houghton pushed to respond as time ticked away and were able to pull one back in the 86th minute as Caleb Luce converted off a pass from Daniele Schivo. But that's all the Highlanders could manage as the clock expired.

Joshua Smith started in goal and played 18 until he was banged up in a collision with a Wolves attacked. Pedro Ruz-Welker finished the game, allowed three goals and making two saves.

The loss broke Houghton's five-game win streak against the Wolves.

Houghton finished with an 18-7 advantage in shots.

The Highlanders are back in action on Saturday, October 11 when they host Hartwick for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
