HOUGHTON, NY – Kylee Barshinger netted a pair of goals, leading the Houghton Highlanders past the visiting Brockport Golden Eagles on a drizzling night at Burke Field, 3-0
The Highlanders scored goals in each of the first three quarters of the game, as they outshot their opponents, 14-8, and picked up their third shutout of the season.
Barshinger scored her first goal with just over three minutes remaining in the first quarter when
Adria Hartzler beat her defender into the circle, dribbled toward the near post and made a perfect pass to Barshinger on the far post of the cage.
Ten minutes later the Highlanders inserted a corner, following a shot from the near side that deflected off the Brockport goalie,
Campbell Bowers collected the ball in the scrum in front of the cage and buried a shot for the second Houghton goal of the game.
Finally, less than three minutes into the second half, Barshinger struck again. After receiving a pass at the top of the circle, she beat her defender on a short run and ripped a shot into the back of the cage from 15 yards out.
