Field Hockey Dominant in Win Over Elmira

HOUGHTON, NY – Six different players found the back of the cage as the Houghton Highlanders turned in a dominant performance, defeating the Elmira Soaring Eagles, 8-0.
 
Houghton set the tone early.  Just 1:05 into the game Lauren Thurber kicked off the scoring, and less than two minutes later Ashley Quinnett found Kylee Barshinger, giving the Highlanders a 2-0 led just three minutes into regulation.
 
By the half, Houghton had opened up a 6-0 lead, firing off 17 shots while allowing only one.
 
Houghton's Davannah Dunn would tack on a pair of goals in the second half to round out the scoring.
 
Annika Galen made two saves in goal for the Highlanders, earning her fourth shutout of the season.
