HOUGHTON, NY – The Houghton Highlanders stretched their win streak to five consecutive matches, picking up a pair of victories on Saturday afternoon. They first defeated conference rival Elmira in straight sets, before pulling out a five-set win over the Pitt-Bradford Panthers in their second match of the day.

Alexa Belanger logged her fourth straight match with 10 or more kills, picking up 11 in the Highlanders three-set victory, while
Praylan Perkins added 10 kills of her own.
Houghton rolled through each set, never allowing more than 16 points, while tallying a .259 attack percentage overall, and a .391 percentage in the third set.
The Highlanders dominated the net with 33 kills and seven blocks, while the Soaring Eagles posted only 19 kills and one block.

With their back against the wall, 2-1, the Highlanders rallied to take the final two sets in dramatic fashion from the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford Panthers, winning the fourth set, 25-19, before taking the fifth and final set, 15-9.
In that final set, the Highlanders turned up the heat, pounding out 11 kills, while committing only one attack error and posting a .435 attack percentage.
After Houghton turned in a dominant, 25-14, performance in the opening set, the Panthers turned the tables, winning the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-15.
Belanger picked up her seventh double-double of the season, racking up 16 kills and 13 digs, while
Emma Cole added 10 kills, and Perkins nine kills and 18 digs.
NOTABLE STATS
