HOUGHTON, NY – The Houghton Highlanders pounded out 17 kills in the opening set, laying the groundwork for their sixth consecutive victory, a 3-0 rout of the visiting SUNY Poly Wildcats.
The Highlanders racked up an impressive .424 attack percentage in the opening set, jumping out to an early lead and peeling off several multi-point runs in route to a 25-14 win.
While the final two sets weren't nearly as clean for the Highlanders, the results were nearly identical.
In the second set, Houghton capitalized on a six-point and five-point run, cruising to a 25-18 win, while in the final set they utilized a pair of six-point runs to pull out the final win, 25-16.
