ALBANY, N.Y. -- Houghton men's soccer dropped a 4-0 decision to Russell Sage on the road Saturday afternoon.
The loss officially eliminates the Highlanders from postseason consideration.
Houghton actually had a 7-6 shots advantage over the Gators in the first half, but found themselves down 1-0 at the break after a Sage goal in the 20th minute.Â
The Gators turned the tables on the Highlanders and turned up the pressure in the second half. The hosts scored three times after the break and finished the half with a 13-3 edge in shots.
Joshua Smith picked up the loss, allowing four goals and making five saves.
Brayden Chase led Houghton with four total shots (two on goal).
Houghton will wrap up its season with one final road contest. They take on Elmira College on Wednesday, October 29 at 4 p.m.
