Herons Defeat Highlanders with Three Fourth-Quarter Goals

GENEVA, NY – Three fourth-quarter goals over a six-minute span ultimately sunk the Houghton Highlanders, as they fell to the William Smith Herons, 5-2.

The Herons scored single goals in each of the first two quarters before Kylee Barshinger finished her team-leading ninth goal of the season to make it a one-goal game in the third.

But Wiliam Smith's Lily Gutch put away her second and third goals of the game early in the fourth, and Eliza Freeland added another only moments later.

In the 53rd minute Barshinger would tack on her 10th goal, but the Highlanders could not mount a further comeback effort.
