ROCHESTER, NY – Audra Mieczkowski broke a 1-1 tie in the 24
th minute to lift the Nazareth Golden Flyers past the Houghton Highlanders on Wednesday evening, 3-1.
Nazareth opened the scoring in the 16
th minute, but Houghton's
Kylee Barshinger put away her third goal of the season just over three minutes later to tie the score, 1-1.
After Mieczkowski scored he eventual game-winner, Houghton turned in a dominant second half, outpacing the Golden Flyers in shots (14-7) and corners (10-0), but the Nazareth defense would not crack.
With less than a minute remaining in the third quarter, Nazareth scored an insurance goal to take a 3-1 lead.
