UTICA, NY – In a near-repeat of Friday night, the Houghton Highlanders came out of the gates on fire, building a sizable lead in the first quarter before cruising to their 13
th win of the season over SUNY Poly, 59-36.
After trading three-pointers to open the game, the Highlanders reeled off the next 15 straight points. At the end of the first, Houghton led comfortably, 23-5.
The Highlanders offense would cool off after the first 10 minutes, but the defense would remain solid throughout, limiting Poly to under 24 percent shooting on the night.
While the Wildcats made a run late, outscoring the Highlanders in the fourth quarter, 15-11, the early Houghton lead proved insurmountable.
