HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton women's tennis came up short against NCAA Division II Daemen, losing 7-0 at the Kerr-Pegula Fieldhouse on Saturday.
Zoe Zachery claimed three game wins in her second set at fourth singles, while freshman
Victoria Martinez produced a strong showing at sixth singles, losing to her opponent 6-2, 6-4. The first doubles tandem of
Arija Grant and
Clancey Cockle lost 6-2.
"I'm really proud of our effort today. I thought we volleyed really well and were able to sustain rallies with some great players," said Head Coach
Jordan Crouch. "It's always a great test playing a program like Daemen, but I think we stood our ground well and that will propel us forward into the rest of our season. I can't wait to work again on Monday. Let's Go Highlanders!"
The team travels to take on Oneonta in its next match on Wednesday, September 11.
