Women's Tennis Drops 7-2 Decision to Cardinals on the Road

Box Score PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Houghton women's tennis fell to 1-1 in conference play after a 7-2 road defeat at the hands of the St. John Fisher Cardinals on Tuesday.

Getting the wins were Alexandria Leary in first singles and Leary teaming with Arija Grant in first doubles.

Kelsi Clapper almost made it three wins, taking her opponent to a three-set tie-break in sixth singles, losing 6-4, 3-6, 8-10.

"Today we had great fight against last year's E8 runner-up. We had our opportunities but unfortunately didn't convert enough of them. Allie played exceptionally well all day and picked up two huge wins for us today. We'll fix some of the issues in training this week and be ready for Fredonia and Sage this week. Let's Go Houghton!"

Houghton hosts Fredonia in a non-conference match on Thursday at 5 p.m.
