GENESEO, NY – On Friday and Saturday, several athletes from the track & field team traveled to Geneseo for one of the bigger meets in the region of the outdoor track & field season. On Friday, the 10,000m and Hammer Throw were contested in less than ideal conditions. It was low 40's and heavy winds throughout the afternoon and evening. Still, almost all of the Highlanders that competed set personal best performances.
Caleb Kasper and
Noelle Linenfelser hit All-Atlantic Regional performances in the 10,000m. Kasper took 4
th place in the men's race in 32:44.42, closing in a 5:01 last 1600m. Linenfelser took 2
nd in the women's race in 39:51.46, closing in a 6:03 last 1600m.
Anna McNamara improved her Hammer Throw best by 4 meters (32.06m), and
Madison Palmer took 10
th overall in 41.11m.
On Saturday, the weather conditions were much improved, and resulted in many personal best performances.
Avery Belanger took 9
th in the 110HH in 17.02.
James Eustace ran a 3 second personal best in the 1500m in 4:09.28, narrowly missing the all-time top 10 list. Eustace came back in the 800m with a strong 2:01.57. On the women's side,
Madison Palmer improved on her school record, throwing 12.26m in the shot put, which was good for 4
th in the competition.
Abigail Nuzzo took 9
th place in her 2024 debut in the Javelin throwing 29.56m.
Delaney Grant and
Phebe Grant dropped way down in distance to run the 1500m and 800m, both gaining big personal best performances in the process.
The Highlanders will be in action again on Saturday 4/6 at the University of Rochester.
