Camacho Earns WBCA DIII All-America Honor

HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton women's basketball student-athlete Kayla Camacho has been recognized as an Honorable Mention selection to the 2024 WBCA Division III Coaches' All-America team, as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association this week.

The All-America team program recognizes 50 of the top DIII players in the nation, with 10 named to the All-America team and another 40 as honorable mention selections.

Camacho was one of just two Empire 8 student-athletes on the list.

Camacho, a first team All-Empire 8 selection, had a breakout season in her final campaign as a Highlander. The 5-10 senior guard led the team in scoring (15.1 ppg), while ranking among the E8 leaders in shooting percentage, assists and steals. Camacho reached double figures in scoring 24 times, exceeding 20 points on seven occasions, and exploded for a career-high 38 points vs. Hartwick. She led the team with 53 made three pointers and finished third in rebounding (5.1) and second in assists (72) and steals (64). She also had season highs of 10 rebounds, nine steals and eight assists.

She scored 24 points in Houghton's season-ending loss in the Empire 8 Championship. The Highlanders finished the campaign with a record of 23-5.
