HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton men's volleyball couldn't find a win in front of the home fans, losing 3-0 to Buffalo State on Tuesday in the Nielsen Center.
The visiting Bengals won, 25-16, 25-18, 25-20.
After a rough start in an opening set in which the Highlanders had six kills against eight errors, the team settled down to produce a positive hitting percentage in the final two sets. In the third set, the Highlanders jumped out to a 7-3 lead, and after the Bengals rallied to take a one-point lead, the teams exchanged points for the next several minutes. With the score even at 15 apiece, Buff State was able to reel off another five-point run to go up 20-15 and gain control.Â
Leading the way for Houghton was
Elijah Sproull with five kills, five digs and seven assists.
Devin Burns finished with four kills and seven digs, while
Gabriel Lucena and
Anthony Panboon tallied 14 and 13 digs, respectively.
Houghton closes out its home schedule on Friday when they host Penn State Altoona at 7 p.m. in the Nielsen Center.
