HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton men's volleyball closed its home schedule with a 3-0 loss to Penn State Altoona on Friday in the Nielsen Center.
Before the match, the Highlanders honored it two seniors,
Devin Tullar and
Gabriel Lucena, for their contributions in the team's inaugural season.
Against the Lions, the Highlanders faced a tough task against a strong opponent, losing 25-11, 25-8, 25-14. For the match the visitors recorded 43 kills and a hitting percentage of .443, while the Highlanders could produce just 13 kills over the three sets.
Four kills by
Devin Burns led the Houghton attack, with
Thomas McGlynn and
Elijah Sproull contributing three kills apiece. Sproull added a team-high 10 assists, while
Anthony Panboon led Houghton with nine digs. Lucena finished with two kills and seven digs.
Houghton will wrap up its first season on Saturday when they travel to Buffalo for a tri-match against Buffalo State and Elmira.
