ROCHESTER, NY – After jumping out to a three-goal lead shortly into the second quarter, the St. John Fisher Cardinals held on to defeat the visiting Houghton Highlanders, 3-2.

Taylor Scrocca put the Cardinals on the board just over five minutes into the game, then scored her second goal of the day on expired time off a penalty corner to cap the first quarter.

Fisher would add their third goal less than three minutes into the second quarter, as Mary Kate McPhee found Emma Cooper for the score.

Houghton, however, refused to go quietly.
Adria Hartzler put the Highlanders on the board with less than four minutes to go before the half, and the teams entered the break with the Cardinals holding a 3-1 lead.

Houghton struck again in the 49
th minute, as
Jace Hunzinger's shot ricocheted off the post to
Bekah Davie, who deposited her eighth goal of the season, trimming the Cardinals lead to only a goal.

With just over a minute remaining, the Highlanders drew back-to-back penalty corners, but could not find the equalizer, as the Cardinals walked away with their second Empire 8 victory in as many games.
