ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth Golden Flyers survived their second five-set match of the season, as they defeated the visiting Houghton Highlanders on Tuesday evening, 3-2.
The Highlanders became the first Empire 8 team this season to go the distance with the Golden Flyers, battling back from a 2-1 deficit, to win the fourth set in dramatic fashion, 25-23, forcing a fifth set.
In the final round, the Highlanders jumped out to an early 6-3 advantage, but Nazareth battled back, pulling ahead 10-9, before winning five of the game's final seven points for the 15-11 victory.
