Houghton claimed two wins in doubles play, winning at the second and third pairings.
Zoe Zachery and
Victoria Martinez teamed up for an 8-5 win in second doubles, while the tandem of
Clancey Cockle and
Kelsi Clapper won 8-2 in third doubles.
The Highlanders lost all four singles matches that were completed. Fifth and sixth singles went unfinished, with Alfred holding 1-0 set leads in each match.
"Today was a great day for some tennis. Happy we could get the chance to play outside against AU. We knew it would be a tough match all week. We just didn't have what we needed today and unfortunately Alfred took advantage of that. We have one more opportunity Saturday against Naz on senior day. We hope to see a bunch of fans to cheer us on, especially Mya and Kelsi. Let's go Highlanders!"
The Highlanders wrap up their regular season hosting Nazareth at noon on Saturday.
