HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton women's tennis finished its fall season with a 9-0 loss to Nazareth on Saturday at the Houghton Outdoor Courts.
The Highlanders were competitive in the opening doubles matches, but were unable to take a win in those tandem matches.
Zoe Zachery and
Victoria Martinez pushed their opponents to the limit, falling by an 8-6 score.
Nazareth won all six singles matches, but Houghton got tough matches at third (
Clancey Cockle) and fifth (
Zoe Zachery) singles, as they each lost 6-4 in the their second sets.
"What a great day to be able to celebrate our seniors. Weather was perfect and the fans helped create a great atmosphere for our team to perform," said Head Coach
Jordan Crouch. "I thought we played well today against a great Nazareth team. I want to thank Mya, Kelsi, and Allie for their years of service to the team. We got to celebrate them afterwards, and it's been a great year in large part to their leadership. I am already excited for our next practice in the spring. Let's go Highlanders!"
