Hunzinger Breaks E8 Assist Record as Highlanders Defeat Russell Sage

HOUGHTON, NY – Jace Hunzinger established a new Empire 8 career assist record and Bekah Davie added to her conference-leading goals-scored total, as the Houghton Highlanders defeated the Russell Sage Gators on Saturday afternoon, 4-2.

Davie scored the game's opening goal, her 13th of the season, in the eighth minute of play on a feed from Deborah Cross.  Then just over three minutes later Davie found the back of the cage again on Hunzinger's record-breaking assist, the 45th of her career.

The Gators would pull within a goal in the 14th minutes on a penalty stroke from Amy Stevens, but Hunzinger answered less than a minute later with her fifth goal of the season to make it 3-1 in favor of the Highlanders.

Hunzinger would find Cross early in the second half to make the score 4-1, before Stevens scored her second goal of the game to cap the scoring for the day.
