Highlanders Open E8 Play With Impressive Victory Over Keuka

HOUGHTON, NY – The Houghton Highlanders avenged their first loss of the season with a resounding 11-0 conference-opening victory over the Keuka Wolves on Wednesday night.

The Wolves held the Highlanders at bay throughout the first quarter, fending off eight shots, seven of which garnered saves from the Keuka goalie.

But just over a minute into the second quarter, Cedar Smith deposited her first goal of the season into the back of the cage, and from there the Highlanders looked like they could not miss.  Over the ensuing nine minutes Houghton would add four more goals, taking a 5-0 lead into halftime.

The second half would bring more of the same, as the Highlanders pounded out six more goals over the final 30 minutes.
