HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton student-athletes Hunter Kendall (baseball) and Matt Cicero (men's tennis) have been honored as Empire 8 Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for the week ending March 19.

Kendall was named the E8 Pitcher of the Week after earning the win on the mound in Thursday's 12-2 victory over Hilbert. The senior hurler allowed just six hits and two runs, while striking out five batters over six innings of work.

Cicero was the lone Highlander to earn a win at both singles and doubles in Saturday's contest against SUNY Oneonta. He began the afternoon with an 8-5 win with teammate Nolan Zach at third doubles before taking the sixth singles contest by a 6-1, 6-3 score.
