Women's Basketball Qualifies for NCCAA Nationals

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Houghton women's basketball program is headed to Indiana after qualifying for the 2023 National Christian College Athletic Association Division I National Championship Tournament.

The eight-team tournament will be hosted by Grace College at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center in Winona Lake, Ind., March 15-18. The event guarantees three games for each team with the championship scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 18.

This is the first NCCAA tournament appearance for the Highlanders since earning back-to-back bids in 1987-88 and 1988-89. The 2012-13 squad just missed out after losing in the NCCAA East Region final.

Houghton has been ranked as high as No. 10 in two of the five regular season national coaches polls to date and was among others receiving votes in two other polls. They are currently ranked No. 15 in the NCCAA weekly power rating.

The Highlanders (17-9 overall) earned the No. 4 seed in last week's Empire 8 Tournament before losing to No. 5 Elmira College in the tournament first round.
More details will be provided as the remaining teams earn spots through regional play.
